2019 Piqué Rogue Valley Sangiovese
The nose opens with a dusty cherry aromatic, a hint of bubblegum, a freshness that could be described as petrichor, and a classic maraschino. The palate unsurprisingly has great tension between the acid and tannins and is supplemented by flavors of dried cherries, cocoa powder, brown sugar, and berry bramble. The finish is highlighted by lingering flavors of savory herbs and red plum alongside its generous tannin structure that provides the grippy texture that Sangiovese is known for. This is a versatile wine that will make a great pairing to many dishes, but will also intrigue on its own.
